What We Do

Sweissy Union undertake several community and humanitarian projects.  Numerous other projects are planned in accordance with our Mission Objectives. We work alongside other communities, organisations and local projects in helping build safer communities both in the UK and abroad.

Community Empowerment

Sweissy Union is a UK based charity actively engaged in the advancement of education and relief of financial hardship. Our principal beneficiaries are Sierra Leoneans living in the UK. However,  all our services are accessible to the wider community. We work strenuously with disadvantaged and socially excluded Sierra Leoneans who are facing barriers to gaining sustainable employment. We're proud of our role in helping our beneficiaries break poverty's strangle-hold within our communities. 

This and our numerous other projects are all focussed on personal & community "Empowerment". Some of our key projects include; Capacity building, Employment training, providing intensive support to users in securing gainful employment or self-employment, personal development promoting community & social integration ; community focussed employment  services: Adult-Learning, Legal assistance and advice services. Additional training geared towards qualifications to NVQ levels 2-4, Technical certificates and Higher certificates.

Client Groups

Vulnerable and excluded Sierra Leoneans facing barriers to work living in the UK and members of the wider community.

Presently the union is focussed in capacity building, our services include educational,  technical and vocational training thereby creating a platform for employment for thousands within the local community. 

Fundraising event for 2011: The union has a profound reputation in organising this glorious event every year. All in raising fund directed to promote our cause in making a difference in thousands of less fortunate peoples lives, within the Sierra  Leonean community  here in the UK, Sierra Leone and the wider community.


In the UK: We work with children on issues of drugs and alcohol misuse and violence. We ensure they have information and skills needed to be positive and make informed decision about their own lives. We work with adult to actively participate on community issues and we ensure they engage with their communities and the wider society. In Sierra Leone, we support Schools, Hospitals and local organizations for a better future.

Independent Day Celebration brings the entire community together to get active, raise cash and change lives.

It has a unique history of dedicated people doing extraordinary things to rise to the challenge - from Mr. Taylor astonishing donation, And, following in his footsteps, huge number of people across Europe, America and Sierra Leone are inspired to rise to the challenge and raise cash to change lives - from taking part in fundraising fun, right through to doing social events.

The best part is that all the money raised is spent by Sweissy union to help transform the lives of poor and vulnerable people, both in the UK and in Sierra Leone poorest communities.

Sierra Leone community beach outing is a UK-wide fundraising event organized by Sweissy union and community organizations every year. On Sierra Leone community beach outing everyone is encouraged to cast inhibitions aside, use the transport provided by organizations and buy a ticket to raise money members and trustees included It culminates in a day of extraordinary fun and togetherness on the beach. It is an event that unites the entire community in trying to make a difference to the lives of thousands of people, both across Sierra Leone and in the UK, who face terrible injustice or who live in abject poverty.
